I have a 2006 LBZ Duramax 4wd with the 6 speed allison automatic, 5" Exhaust, superchips tuner.
When I am in performance mode, the truck falls flat on it's face between 1-2 and 2-3 shifts. It does not occur in Performance/tow (middle) mode.
Is the truck getting in the rev limiter or is the programmer designed to de-fuel between shifts. it is extremely annoying and slows the truck tremendously. What can we do to correct this problem?

After the install of any of the tunes are you giveing the trucks trans enough time to learn the extra power?
What I mean about this is that these trannys have a computer that is seperate from the main engine computer, we do not tune the trans computer on the trucks with Allison trannys.
The computers require a 25-30 mile learning time to get the trans in sink with the extra power. You would need to take this into factor WHENEVER you program the truck. Wheather it is from a SC program to a stock or vice versa. This will give the Allison trans enough time to learn, so that the trans shifts and the engine defueling will sink up with each other.

I'm having the same issue with my 06 LBZ 4x4. Dont get me wrong it has alot of power in performance mode, but its falling on its face inbetween gears. I've put 250 miles on my truck since installing the tuner, and the tranny has not adjusted itself. The only modifications I have done to this truck is a lift kit. No exhaust, intake, etc. I have a buddy that is also having the same tranny issue on the 06 LBZ, and he has approx 2K on his truck since he installed the tuner. Is this a real common issue? If so have we found the fix?

Remove the program (back to stock) drive the truck for 20 miles. Reload any Sc program. Drive the vehicle for 30-35 miles of mixed driving (stop n go, and constant throttle speeds). Drive the vehicle easy, no hard accel, no WOT wide open throttle punches. Just drive it easy for that time framr. This will allow the trans computer to relearn the extra power that has been added to the truck.

Ron, I am having the same symptoms on a 06 LBZ Dually. Installed the Performance tune, drove about 100 miles of easy stop and go driving with a little highway constant speed. Tonight I tried a 3/4 throttle start and the shift from 1 to 2 and 2 to 3 are both delayed by what sounds like defueling, but the engine revs, followed by a hard grab into the next gear. This is not a mild condition, but one that feels like it could due some real damage. Any suggestions?

Remove the tuning for 50+miles and see if the issue is still there. Reinstall the tuning and drive the vehicle as I previously discribed in the other postes.
Does the truck have a different size tire than what came on it factory?Are you recalibrating measuring from the ground to the top of the tire with in 1/4" increaments? We are not having a problem with the tuning and Allision transmissions. Because we DO not have ANY control over the trans, except tire height recalibration at this time.

Ron, with the exception of the Superchips Flashpaq performance tune, everything on the truck is stock. Will reinstall the stock tune and drive the 50 miles as you recommend. Assuming the truck is well behaved after the stock 50 miles, do I reinstall the Performance tune and try again? Thanks

Yes reinstall the tuning after you have driven those miles and see what you come up with.

Ron, just to keep you updated, I did restore the STOCK tune to my LBZ dually, and drove it about 75 miles. The transmission shifting was normal as soon as I did this restore and remained that way for the 75 miles. It is curious that the transmission was well calibrated for the STOCK tune, leading me to wonder if it had done any adjusting for the PERFORMANCE tune? I have decided that my Allison may be a "slow learner" like its owner, so I have installed the TOW tune and will run this for a while and if all works well I will step up to TOW/PERFORMANCE and give this a while and then on to PERFORMANCE again. Will let you know how I progress and welcome any advice you would like to pass along. Thanks

My transmisson must be stupid. I've tried everything suggested to help my tranny learn the extra power. It still falls on its face between all gears. Dont get me wrong it has gotten alot better but still doesnt shift correctly. If I program to stock the tranny shifts fine. Shifts fine in tow mode, shifts fine in tow/performance mod, but performance mode its horrible. I have 38" tires on this truck and assuming its probably contributing to my issue. Also about the speedometer calibration. My tires are 38x15.50/r18. Actualy tire size new is 38.05", measured with a tape measure is right at 38". When using the programmer I calibrated to 38.00 and the speedo was off about 3 MPH according to my GPS. Went down in incriments of 0.25 until it was right on at 37.00

What happens when you remove the tuning? Does the truck shift normally?
Let try it again, return the truck to stock and drive it for a day or so, get about 50+miles on it stock. Then retune it for the Perf. setting, try driving the truck EASY, mixed driving for at least 50-60 miles and then see if that works.

I too, am having the same issue. I have put back to stock, several times for the computer to "learn". Still the truck doesn't shift correctly. Its like throwing on the breaks, every time it shifts. It also seems that there is a "dragging" feeling in the pedel, in some of the gears. This doesn't happen in stock mode.
I love the power, but it doesn't seem that it performs like it should.

Ron, since I am still working on this problem also, I would like to confirm that the current Performance tune for the 2805 has been installed and successfully tested on an 06 LBZ/Allison truck, including successful relearn of the Allison to this level of power? I do not object to being part of a Beta test, if I know it. But at this time I am working on the assumption that my truck and I have a problem, since the 2805 Performance tune is proven. Thanks

These products have been out since 2002 for the Duramax. We have not been able to tune any part of the transmissions of these trucks.
These products has just been superceeded into one part number just recently.
You do not have to remove the tuning to have the trans to learn. I wanted you to remove it so you could see the learning time that the computer uses. The fact of just reprogramming or reseting the tune will clear out any stored memory of your driving habits.
We own 2-3 duramax trucks a year and do hundreds of hours of dyno and on road testing with these products.

Ron, at the risk of being persistent, my question is: Has Superchips tested the currently available Flashpaq 2805 Performance tune on a 2006 LBZ Allison truck and achieved acceptable shifting at half throttle to WOT? Thanks
