Hey Ron,
Thanks for getting my account going. I have a 2004 Avalanche with a 'T' 325 ci engine, 5.3 liter in Canada. I believe the rear end is 4:10. I put an Airaid cold air intake and Magnaflow cat-back exhaust on it and I am using the cortex tuner. I hope you can clarify the tow tune setting for me.

I read other posts where you said there is no horsepower gain in the tow mode for this engine. Is there a torque increase at all? Why would I use the tow setting on this engine?
I will be pulling a travel trailer that weighs around six thousand pounds. Can you clear up this issue for me?

BTW, I love the performance I am getting with my cortex tuner. I have picked up hp and torque and the gains are noticable and fun, too. I upgraded from the stock brakes to improve my stopping power. Thanks again. You guys are doing great work.

Welcome to Superchip's forum...

04' T motor does not make any hp or torque to the truck, so in my opinion I would use the "stock with options" tuning.

You really do not have any benifit to using the tow mode vs, stock with options. Tow requires 91 or better octane to run it. All it is doing is improving the shifts and throttle sensitivity, same thing the stock w/options program.

So then what options would I alter in the "stock with options" tune? I already have a tow/haul mode that changes the shift pattern on the transmission and I do tow with 91 octane fuel. I am just wondering what changes I can make to facilitate towing our trailer with this vehicle. Any suggestions you can make will be much appreciated. We are going camping this weekend. Camping season starts now in Canada. Yay.

The stock with options program will enhance the shift firmness and hold the lower gears longer based on throttle position. You would use the tow haul as needed to lock out the O/D.
It allows you to use all the extra features:
Tire height
gear recalibration
speed and rev limiter
Shift points and firmness
fan settings

You will have the better throttle sensitivity to help it get moving...
