I recently installed a Cortex 1950 model on my 2007 F150 4.2L and am running the 87 octane performance tune, and when I give my truck alot of gas on the highway, the engine starts to knock, and it did not do that before I installed the cortex. What could be the problem? Bad gasoline? Would it help if I put 89 octane in it?

Try setting the tune back to stock and see if it still knocks.

Is the truck modified?
Bigger tires?
Cold air intake?

Yeah it has bigger tires, a 2 inch lift, and K&N air filter. Im running the 87 octane performance tune, and when I run 87 octane gas through it it knocks. But i tried running 89 octane with the 87 tune and it doesnt seem to be doing it anymore. Is that normal?

It also has custom true duel exhaust that was reworked from the cats. I dont know if that makes any difference.

Does it knock on the stock tune?
How long has the K&N been on the truck?
Have you ever washed it? Do you clean the MAF after washing the filter? If not the MAF sensor may be dirty and you would need to clean it.
Is it a CAI?
How many miles are on the truck?

The K&N has been on about a year and its been cleaned once. Its not that dirty right now though. I re-installed the stock tune and then re-tuned it again, and it stopped knocking. I guess it fixed itself. Idk what the problem was. Thanks for all the help
