We have not sold those products in quite a long time.

You may want to talk to the manufacture for product specs.

This is the only information we have on this product.

5800 - 5840 Gauges are discontinued
Product Information
Vehicle Coverage:

Universal (it can be used on any vehicle)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
TC Cable for Dodge (* applications
The current 5800 EGT Gauge stock from MSD has a cable too short (60") for Dodge (* Applications.
The TC cables for the (* will need to be 84” long.
As long as the gauge is mounted in the A Pillar or the steering column, these longer cables are effective. They will not work for overhead console mounts.

Map Sensor Installation
Mount the 4-BAR MAP sensor as close as possible to the engine manifold, keeping the distance from the manifold to the sensor under one foot if possible.
Connect the pressure sensor wires to the gauge wire harness with the &H splices as indicated in the wiring chart above.
Seal the &H splices with heat shrink tubing once the gauge has been checked for proper functionality.

Recommend 3/16" I.D. Vacuum line
1) The rubber hose attached to the sensor should be as short as possible. Attach it in the engine compartment in an area where it will not be subject to excess heat or vibration.

2) Access to the air pressure intake may be obtained between the surge tank and the fuel regulator.

3) Detach the vacuum hose from the surge tank side that has loss pressure oscillations and insert a 3 way connector. Cut the required length of hose to go from the three way to surge tank.

USB to Serial converter Add-on Purchase
(Supports Vista)
Model # UC-232A
ATEN Corporation - FC CE – USB-Serial Converter
Web://www.electronicsoutfitter.com
According to MSD Engineering a USB to Serial Converter can be installed and will work with the existing MSD Gauge Software.
There are no special configuration files needed, nor any special drivers to load. It is said to be “Plug & Play” for all operating systems.
The product was originally designed for Windows 98SE, XP, 2000 machines which typically have a DB-9 Serial Port on the pc itself, but at the moment the customer must incur the cost of the add-on purchase for new pc's that do not have the DB-9 Serial Port

FEATURES
The Superchips Lazer EGT and Boost Gauge can display exhaust gas temperature from 600° to 1600°F and boost pressure from 0 to 50 PSIG. The gauge employs dual 150° arc displays with EGT sweeping clockwise and Boost sweeping counterclockwise. It features programmable peak exhaust gas temperature and maximum or peak boost alarms that will flash the portion of the arc above the programmed high values. The alarm points are easily adjusted by using the touch face programming capability. The gauge will also display peak EGT and boost pressure with a dot of light.
INSTALLATION
The gauge can be placed in a pod or mounted in the dash with the plastic mounting
bracket and two 8-32 hex nuts supplied in the parts bag. A hole diameter of 2-1/16” is required for mounting. If the mounting panel thickness is 1/16” or less, no modification
of the plastic mounting bracket is required. If the mounting panel thickness is greater than 1/16”, some material
must be removed from the two wide tabs of the plastic mount bracket. This will allow the nuts to be installed onto the gauge screws. Tighten the nuts snugly to retain the gauge in the pod or dash.
Note: The Red wire must be powered during cranking.
This is so the gauge can reference atmospheric pressure prior to the engine running.

Thermocouple Installation
Installation of the thermocouple (TC) requires drilling and tapping of a 1/8-27 NPT hole into the exhaust manifold or turbo exhaust inlet. Position this so that the tip of the TC can be inserted near the center of the exhaust gas stream. Extreme care must be taken to prevent contamination of the turbocharger inlet with metal chips during the drilling and tapping operation.
With the brass compression fitting installed in the tapped hole in the exhaust manifold or turbo, insert the TC into the fitting to where the tip will protrude near the center of the exhaust gas stream. Tighten the compression fitting on the TC while holding it in the proper position.
Exercise caution to ensure that the shielded TC wires are routed away from all hot exhaust components such as manifolds or turbochargers. Also avoid contact or close proximity to all high voltage plug wires. Secure the wiring with one or more wire ties.
If the thermocouple connector must be removed to route the leads to the gauge location, be sure to reinstall the yellow wire into the positive (+) terminal of the TC connector and the red wire into the negative (-) terminal of the connector. Plug the TC male connector into the female TC connector on the back of the gauge to complete the installation. A Type K extension wire may be used and required in some installations, if the turbo is located far away from the gauge. Do not use copper wire to extend the TC to the gauge.
Caution: Be certain not to short circuit the wires in the connector and never allow gauge wires to be shorted to ground or to battery voltage as this could damage the gauge.
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

Demo Mode
All Lazer Gauges have a demonstration mode that will illustrate the gauge arc moving from minimum to maximum and back. To select the demo mode touch the gauge face and wait about ten seconds until the arc begins moving. The speed of the arc can be user selected from one of three speeds by touching the face until the arc speed changes. It will begin at the slowest rate. The demo mode will repeat continuously until power is turned off.
Setting the Alarm
The Lazer Gauge alarm function can be programmed via front touch switch or from your PC.
Programming with the Touch Screen
To program the high EGT alarm point using the front touch screen, simply touch the bottom of the gauge face and quickly release. This puts the gauge in the program mode. Now, touch and hold the screen again to initiate the sweep up from the bottom of the range. The sweep begins slowly and increases speed as it moves across the range. To set the alarm point, simply release when the sweep reaches the desired value. The gauge will resume normal function after approximately two seconds.
If you momentarily release the screen and quickly touch again, the sweep will begin from the current position and changes direction, beginning slowly and increasing speed as it moves across the range. When the sweep reaches the desired alarm point, simply remove your finger. The gauge will resume normal function after approximately two seconds.
To program the high boost alarm, hold the front touch screen until the EGT alarm is displayed then changes to the Boost high alarm, momentarily releasing the touch switch will like wise begin the edit of the Boost high alarm value.
Programing with a PC
Note: PC programming should be done before mounting the gauge.
Superchips Lazer gauges have an integrated communication port on the gauge back that allows more advanced gauge customization. Using Superchips Lazer Software, the supplied 9-pin serial port connector harness, and your PC, you can modify a number of gauge functions such as alarm points and illumination qualities.
The high temperature alarm flashes the portion of the arc above the alarm programmed value and changes the back lighting from white to red. It also closes the output alarm switch while the alarm is active. See the Superchips Lazer Software menu for more information on the alarm format options.
