I HAVE A 2001 SILVERADO WITH 4.8 LITER ENGINE. AND A 4 SPEED AUTO TRANSMISSION. I AM HAVING A PROBLEM WITH SHIFTING INTO ANY GEAR. FOR SOME REASON WHEN THE TRUCK IS OFF, THEN I START IT, IT WILL GO INTO REVERSE AND DRIVE JUST LIKE IT SHOULD. BUT WHEN I GO TO PUT IT BACK IN PARK OR NEUTRAL, THEN BACK INTO REVERSE OR DRIVE, IT DOESNT GO INTO THOSE GEARS. BUT AS SOON AS I SHUT THE TRUCK OFF FOR A FEW SECONDS THEN RESTART IT, THEN IT WILL GO IN TO THOSE GEARS.

WHAT IS CAUSING THIS?

Try to read the trucks diagnostics, to see if their is a trouble code.

Also remove the tuning to verify that it does this on the stock tuning.

I plug in the flashpaq and its not sending me any errors, But ive even reverted it back to stock and it still does the same thing. Im thinking its something electrical, because why would i be able shut off the truck, and start it up and be able to shift the truck a few times before it does it again,......

My 2500HD did that a few times, in stock mode, but it only did that to me twice and it was both when I was parked on a steep hill. What I did was put it into neutral and then back into reverse and it was fine, but it hasnt done it to me again since those then.

Also for some reason, when i connect my flashpaq up to my computer, it just says analyzing and it never does anything. the flashpaq ends up saying "usb port time out" and a little red x appears on the software screen besides the hardware thats connected which is my flashpaq model 2815 i believe

Well i was wondering if a transmission filter is dirty, can it cause slippage, and what does it mean if the transmission fluid smells burnt?

I would recommend to talk to a transmission repair shop for inspection.

OK, I TOOK THE TRANS PAN OFF AND THE FLUID WAS DARK BROWN AND SMELLED BURNT AND THEN I STRAINED THE FLUID THROUGH A STRAINER AND NO PARTICLES OR ANYTHING CAME OUT THAT LOOKED BAD. THE INTERNAL COMPONENTS ALL LOOKED GOOD AS WELL. THE FILTER WAS IN REAL BAD SHAPE, FULL OF NORMAL WARE AND TEAR PARTICLES WHE I BROKE OPEN THE FILTER, IT WAS COMPLETELT BLACK AND COULD NOT SEE THROUGH IT. WAS TOLD BY THE DEALER THAT ITS POSSIBLE THAT WHEN A FILTER LOOKS AS BAD AS THIS ONE DID, WHAT HAPPENS IS THAT IT PREVENTS ADEQUATE FLUID FROM GOING WHERE IT NEEDS TO GO AND CAUSES SLIPPAGE. SO I BOUGHT A NEW FILTER AND FLUID AND WE'LL SEE WHAT HAPPENS TMRW....

Everything is ok with the transmission. i took the trans pan off and took out the filter, the filter was so clogged up (normal ware and tear) that it could not *h fluid into transmission. so i changed the fluid and the filter and now it works better than before with no problems! no slipping or anything. THX FOR ALL THE ADVICE PEOPLE!

Also, how can i possibly get some superchips decals to put on my truck?????

Good that you found a simple issue, monitor the truck and be easy with it until you feel comfortable.
