I purchased a Superchips Flashpaq 1805 Tuner for my 250 two weeks ago. I loaded the economy program into the truck at the dealer and really liked what I felt. Quicker throttle response, better acceleration, but really not a good chance yet to check my fuel mileage. We're heading to the beach in two weeks so that'll be a perfect test to see if it'll exceed my typical 17mpg highway (on a good day).

Earlier this week, I changed to the "tow" mode since I was going to be hauling trailer loads of pine straw for my landscape business. Today as well, I had to haul my tractor to the dealer for service and this is where I'm curious as to what is going on with the truck. What I "feel" with the truck is slower shifts with the transmission. When moving up through the gears, they just don't "grab" the next gear as quick as they used to. Also today, when I was driving down a slight grade with just a little bit of throttle, the engine "skipped" three times within about 15 seconds.

I'm not saying this is definitely the tuner, but after 26,000 stock miles, it's never done this before. Any suggestions or comments? Thanks all.

Have you deprogrammed the truck? If not read DTC's. (Diagnostic trouble codes) To see if it recorded any.
Let me know.

Today I checked it. No DTC codes. I'm through towing for a while so I put it back in "economy" mode for now.

Well of all the reasons to bring this thread back up, I think my Flashpaq 1805 and my Torqueshift just don't like each other.

For starters, my first disappointment was when hauling in "tow safe". The transmission seems to be "searching" for a comfortable gear around 45 mph with a 5K load. Upshifting and downshifting way too often compared to stock.

The second occurrence was last Sunday coming home from work in "economy" mode. I was cruising around 50 mph and started to pass another vehicle on a two-lane road. When I stomped it, the transmission downshifted to fourth, then third, and then second. Jeesh! I don't remember it going through each individual gear like that before. Maybe I'm mistaken, but I thought in stock mode, it just immediately went to the right gear for the condition warranted.

Now today, I get my biggest concern. I went to pick my tractor up from the shop today and since I knew I was going to be under 6,000 lbs, I just left it in "economy" mode. No real problems until I get home to back the trailer into the driveway. What it developed was a "shuddering" when I first put it into reverse and then start backing. I put it into drive and it did the same thing. So after I unload the trailer, I try it once more and it still does it. I then download the stock settings into the truck and pull it forward and backwards twice and it never shudders once.

By the way, I don't know if this will make any real difference or not but I just downloaded the standard "Flashpaq Tuneup" into the tuner tonight. Don't know if that will be much of a help or not. I'll try one more time tomorrow.

Please submit a trouble ticket so I can look at this.
