I know this sounds silly, but when I run my A/C my idle surges pretty badly. The RPMs dip so low that the engine nearly shuts off, then surges to recover. The needle bounces. Once I turn the A/C off, the idle is perfectly smooth. This seems strange to me because usually in computer controlled vehicles, turning the compressor on kicks the RPMs up a little. I have received a few error codes saying something about the RPMs dipping too low, but I usually clear it and hope it doesn't happen again. The car runs great for the most part when moving. I'm just worried that eventually the engine will die at a stop light.

I have an 05 GT with the 91 Performance JLT Tune. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Is that a "oiled" filter?

Has the car always done this with the tuning and the air filter? Or was this something that just came up?
