I was wondering what the stock tire size is (in inches) for a 265/70/R17. I measured and split the difference between the front and rear tires and set it to 31.25. This seems like it may be a bit off though. I was clocked by a roadside radar sign as doing 68 when the speedo said 75. Is the stock setting 31.5? The dealer reset the speedo before I got the tuner when I went with a 285 tire. Now I am running the stock size again so I lost the stock setting.

Their should be a "stock" setting in the tire correction area. This will use what the computer is programmed to as "stock". Ron

Well, my tuner for some reason programs my truck to 31.5" tire when I return it to stock when my truck came with 33" tires from the factory? When I returned my truck back to stock, the speedo was much faster than I was actually going which made me check the settings and it was at 31.5". Then, when the dealer re-configured the tipm due to an electrical issue, the speedo was back to correct 33" settings. The Tuner won't put my stock tire size to 33" which it's suppose to be. This means my speedo will never be the same if I decide to get rid of my tuner??? WHY??? I already posted over in the Problem area..FYI.

The computer being program to "stock" this is the stock value that the PCM on the truck has from factory.
Not what shows up in the tuner as a "default" setting that is viewed from the tuner.

Instead of creating a new post, I'll quick ask it here. In regards to the tire sizes, if my truck can with 28.X inch tires, and now has 31/10.50/15's, and at proper inflation they measure 29 inches, give or take, do I input 29 inches into the programmer for the tire size? Thanks!

Thanks! As long as you are physically measuring them with a tape measure, with the wheels and tires loaded on the truck. Ron

Just an FYI - I have been playing around with the tire size settings trying to get it dialed in with a GPS unit. I found that the stock setting from the factory isn't very accurate. It sets it to 31.5 where the tape measure reads a little under 31 for the rear wheels at proper inflation. These are brand new tires with an empty load other than a shell. I would guess the shell weighs ~200 lbs. At the stock setting, I have about a 3-4 MPH difference at 60 MPH.
What would be really cool is if the manufacturers just used GPS for the speedo reading. Then it wouldn't matter how big your tires were or what kind of gears you were running.
