I have a 2006 silverado crew cab short box 6.0 litre with 3.73 gears. I tow a 8000 pound trailer. What is the best setting for milage and power? What will give most most bang for $ cat back or intake?

Welcome to Superchip's Forum!!

When towing that kind of weight the only tune I can recommend is the tow tune. I do not think you will gain any mileage while towing. Just a easier time doing it.

When not towing, I would either try, performance or the Mileage tune.
I prefer the perf tune for all around while not towing.

Thanks Ron. I have been using the Milage program and didn't change it (forgot to bring the tuner). I had a hard time, pinging and the trans was constantly shifting. I filled with 91 octane and the pinging stopped but still couldn't go over about 90 km/hr without the trans shifting down. RPM was about 2500. I assume that this will be noticably better when I upload the towing progrm, but am still wondering if an aftermarket air intake would provide a significant benifit??

Correct.

The mxs tune will shift the trans very quickly, the towing tune is going to have normal shift patterns.
