I have a customer who just submitted the following issue:

I received the package and followed the instructions manual for usage. Once updated the unit through the web I used it on my truck and it sent me the following message : "Use code # E-7A, Database error ". After that I could not continue tuning my truck. I could manage to change tire diameter & modify the TPMS range though.

Make: Dodge
Model : RAM 2500 4x4
Engine : (* diesel 5.9
Year: 2008
VIN: 3D7KS28C88G230265
*****************************************

I just asked him to take the following steps, after which we're looking for some guidance from Superchips:

Since you've managed to alter the tire size & TPMS settings, I am going to assume that the stock file from the truck was saved/downloaded to the tuner, correct?
I'm not sure exactly what "Use code # E-7A, Database error " means, but I suspect the programming that's in the truck varies somewhat from the programming the tuner is designed for. Using your VIN number, I looked this up at a VIN decoder service and it appears this truck was manufactured in Mexico.

Please connect the tuner to your PC and run the update software once again, using the Superchips "Easy Update" software. Now that the tuner has your stock file installed, there may be another update available and even if there is not, this connection logs details from the tuner with the main server at Superchips. The engineers at Superchips can review that log file and tell us something about the issue.

Please make note of the time you started, run the Easy Update software and email me the serial number from your tuner. We'll see if the guys at Superchips can review the log file on this one.

Lloyd , as requested, the serial number for my superchips unit is 1486806.
I will proceed with the web update. The stock file from the truck was correctly saved/downloaded to the tuner .

Thanks, please confirm here when the update has completed. This helps with a time window for review of the server logs (although the serial should be all they need)

Hi Robert,
Thanks for the update. One thing I would recommend is ignoring your in dash mileage display for a couple of months as those can be inaccurate for a while after a reflash. To get an accurate mileage number, do the old school calculation based on how many gallons/litres you put in the tank divided by the miles/kilometers driven.

Luis, update the tuner once, and then try it again on the truck. We have change the programming in the tuner to match the cal in the truck.

Let us know how it goes.

Ron
