Well... got my 3815.. downloaded all the updates.. programmed my 08 Dodge Ram 1500.. went out for a day of mileage testing.. same road, same distance, same speed 5 trips
trip 1 and 2 stock truck 23.8 mpg
trip 3 ,"performance tune" 22.6
trip 4 , "mileage extreme" setting.. 20.2 !!!
trip 5, "towing" setting.. 22.1..
So! I like the trans feel with the programmer, I like I can turn MDS if it's bugging me bad enough.. It did feel a touch stronger wide open throttle and high RPM.. but was no stronger at reasonable throttle and rpm... and so there I am.. out $400 bucks and getting less mpg...... Hmmm .. not thrilled

Tell us how many miles you ran on each mode.
Also, what grade of fuel have you been running?
Are you relying on the overhead Esti-meter?
One would really need to average their mileage over a few tanks of fuel.
Removing the tuning and changing levels is on accurate for overall MPG gains.
Whenever you reprogram the computer on the truck their is a relearning time for your driving habits typically 50-75miles.

Also, what grade of fuel have you been running?... 92 in all cases, even when it was stock
Are you relying on the overhead Esti-meter? yes
One would really need to average their mileage over a few tanks of fuel. ....The fact that I've been able to get consistent readings over and over when the truck was stock leads me to believe my method is ok for testing mods
Removing the tuning and changing levels is on accurate for overall MPG gains. ... uhhh what? Whenever you reprogram the computer on the truck their is a relearning time for your driving habits typically 50-75miles. well , that may be... but it either has improved programming or it doesn't... one would think I would notice a change in the 40 some odd miles it takes to do my test loop

just for the heck of it I will drive it for a few days and see if my bad attitude cools off before I jump the gun and request a return autho
maybe the ability to turn off MDS is worth the money.. I'll see what my feelings are in a few days

One would have to drive the truck for a few tanks full of fuel to get a good average with all of the different conditions.
In my opinion you would need to do more thorough testing.

that's the thing... there wasn't different conditions.. same day, same fuel, same road, same distance, same speed same same same
if i couldn't reproduce the results on the stock settings time after time, I would think there was a flaw in the method... but that's just it ... it's consistent... runs one way stock... gets one mileage stock... gets worse with the tuner... consistently
but I will give it a few days, to see if my mood improves

i'm sure by now you have probably seen gains because you let the tune mature on your pcm, you can't just go switching tunes multiple times and expect the pcm to respond well. i think the tunes on my truck mature and settle after around 400 miles and that's when you start seeing gains, i think they initial gain alot of people feel when installing a tune is actually the pcm being reset by the tuning process after a while the tune takes, then settles and you see the full benefit.
