Ron,

After updating my programmer with the new programs for my LBZ Truck, I noticed that when running the tow/performance tune the truck now can't hold 6th. gear when towing my 5500 lb. enclosed trailer as it did with the previous tune.

Did Superships take power/torque away from the program as I used to be able to tow with the stock tune and maintain 6th. gear while towing and the same holds true for the previous program. I never-ever saw the truck downshift to 5th. even when towing uphill.

How many miles did you drive with the towing installed after the update?

We did not change the tuning for less power.

Have you tried to read the diagnostics? Maybe there is an issue with the truck.

Codes are not an issues.... We were on a 350 mile trip and the truck would shift from 6th to 5th on even the smallest bridges. This never occured prior to the new update.

The truck has fresh filters and oil.

As for the reprograming the truck to tow, how many miles did you drive prior to hooking up to the trailer?

I ask because the Allison trannys do have a learning time after tuning. If you were to tow without letting the trucks computer relearn the extra power, then this may have caused the inconsistant drivability.

I would recommend driving the truck 50+miles after tuning prior to towing, so that the trans computer will learn the extra power.

OK, so what I need to do is to program the truck with the tow/performance mode and drive for 50 or so miles then begin my trailer towing?

Yes, that is what I recommend.
