I recently updated my flashpaq with version 1.15 and now when in perf/tow the engine makes a louder diesel rattle when it upshifts. It is most noticable at the 1-2, and 2-3 shifts. I thought maybe i was just too hard on it when I first installed the program, so have since went back to stock, drove for 280 miles then reinstalled and drove normally with no success. As soon as I returned to stock the "diesel rattle" went away and when I reinstalled the rattle came back with the first shift. Also engine and tranny temps are significantly higher than they were with stock or version 1.12. Around 20 degrees each. I am worried this may damage something, and am seriously considering buying a different programmer. I never had any dislikes with the flashpaq until I updated it! I want to go back to version 1.12! I have a 2006 LBZ.

Are you stacking this with another under the hood box?

This is not a common complaint with the product.
How many miles are on the truck?

What is the tuners serial number.
Ron

No, I'm not stacked with any other boxes. In fact the only other mod I have done is 4" cat back exhaust. I have 22,500 miles on the truck and have been running the flashpaq since about 5000 miles. I have never been hard on it or have ever even ran the performance program. The tuners SN is 1236453. I have returned to stock with options programming (I have slightly larger than stock tires). I really miss the extra power and mileage that I used to get with the flashpaq, but Im not willing to damage my truck.

Same thing on my 05 LLY, no cat, 4 inch from turbo back and airaid cold air intake. Sounds as if the valves are coming through the heads. Not a new problem one that has persisted but just thought I was hearing things or maybe it was normal.

Come to think of it, I too have a different noise since doing the last update to fix the shifting/defuel issue. The diesel "rattle" is much louder. I noticed it when really cold here and thought it was a warm-up issue. Had some real nice days since. The truck is unusually noisy. I have removed the tuning and the truck goes back to it's normal Duramax engine sound. What's up with this?

I would recommend having the truck listen to by a diesel mechanic to verify the issue.

Where do you guys live? What is the outside temps at that point?

Is it all day long? Or only just when the truck is cold?

I live in montana, and in the past month we have seen temps from -25 to 50, and the noise happens at all temps. It happens when the truck is just started and when the water temp gauge reads 200, and the tranny temp reads 140. Im not really understanding why you want me to take it to a diesel mechanic?? So he can say " yep its making noise, i'd throw that progammer away?" This ONLY happens with the programmer installed. Maybe im an idiot but that sounds like a programming issue to me?? Come on Ron, please help us get this fixed or tell me too bad and I'll throw the thing away. Im not letting a $400 programmer ruin a $40,000 truck

I am trying to diagnos your issue.
I need these answers to help the calibrator see what the issue is.

Thank you and I will see what he says.

Hey Ron I really need an ETA on new calibrations, my valves are real loud on upshift and gear changes. I have been really pleased with the flashpaq so far but I'm concerned for the motor's integrity. I'm almost willing to de-program and either wait for you guys to do something or go buy something else. You have no idea how much hell I'ld catch if my $40,000 truck turned into a 9,000# lawn ornament. Let me know something. Has not happened until approx 4 updates ago and does not happen at stock setting.

Im running stock with option now, cause i am concerned something may come apart. I have really liked the flashpaq until this problem. Hopefully it'll get fixed soon, cause the mileage drop really *h!! And i really miss the looks on peoples faces when I step on the throttle and leave them in a black cloud!!

Leave the trucks in stock with options for now, the rewriting or changes to the files make take a week or so.

Send me all of your contact info directly.

Has anyone made any modifications to the truck since the last update?
Ron

According to the calibrations department.

"His Engine file has not been changed since 5/23/2007"

You could try to reupdate the tuner, maybe the files were miscued. But if you get another download and it does not change, I will have to recommend taking to a diesel mechanic with the tuning installed, and have him test the truck. With and without tuning.

So according to your calibrations dept. I am running version 1.11, correct? Tell me then how I am able to use the stock w/ options program that I am currently running seeing that version 1.12 wasn't released until July 2007. I AM RUNNING VERSION 1.15!! My most recent update was Jan. 25, 2007. When I go to the "about" screen on my flashpaq is says:
"GM 2001-2007 Duramax
GM Tuner 2805 V1.15
Database V033
SN 0000000001236453"

Is that not updated correctly?? Maybe something's wrong with my flashpaq??
