First let me start by saying I own two Superchips Products and love them both. I have both Cortex models 1950 and 3950. The 1950 is used on my 2002 Ford F-350 7.3L Powerstroke and have had no issues with this programer whatsoever. The 3950 is used on my 2006 Dodge Ram 1500 4.7L, I purchased this one about a month ago and have had no problems with it up until the last 2 weeks I started out running the 91 Performance tune, and really saw no gains in horsepower at all. I then Updated the tuner, and reflashed the Performance tune and still no noticeable difference, so I flashed to Tow mode, and I was Impressed with the power and MPG gains that I saw. I have been running Tow mode now for the last 2 weeks with no problems then last week my check engine light came on. So I went home right away and check the code, there were 4 that showed up. 3 of them were probably meaningless, just a loss communication with ECM, and lost communication with radio, and a vin missmatch, the 4th on is the one that I am concerned about, it was a P0305, cylinder 5 misfire. I just replaced the spark plugs a month or so before I got the tuner. So I reset back to stock and ran the truck till I needed to fill up again. I filled back up with 93 octane, and reinstalled the tow tune, drove the truck for about 500 miles with no problems had the oil changed saturday, and now today when taking off from a stop sign my check engine light came on, and this time I felt the miss, so I returned home and check the code again and it was the same one. I should also mention that the truck runs idle was very smooth for awile and everytime the misfire has happened I can feel it idling rough right around 600-700 rpms, it feels as if I am driving my diesel, which I expect this feeling from a diesel, but not a gas. The only mods that I have done to this truck is a custom cai, and a flowmaster 40 muffler. I am leaving for a trip on ‎wednesday from Ohio to Colorado, I want to still use this tune for my trip because I am getting around 20 mpgs on the highway using it. I would also like to see a noticeable difference using the 91 Performace tune. All help would be appreciated.
Thanks Josh

Welcome to Superchip's Forum!

I would suggest to pull the plug and make sure that the plug and or the coil pack is not damaged. If it were tuning, you would have had the issue on all cylinders. Not just one.

What plugs did you use? What gap? I would check the gap on the plug also.

Take a look and give us your feedback. Till then leave the tuning out of the truck.

Ron

Ron,
I just went out and pulled the coil pack and plug they both look fine, I also pulled #1 to compare and there was nothing that seemed damaged or broke on the coil pack, the plug had very little build up on it, it still looked brand new.

The Plugs are NGK V-Power, They are gapped to .040, this is what the truck calls for.

Let me know if you have any other suggestions.

Thanks Josh

You could swap coils with another cylinder and see if the missfire follows the switch.
