Well, I did it, put the 91 oct, SC Sport package on my car, did the fuse trick, and took er a spin. I have driven city stop and go for about 15 minutes, so far no idle surges. I can tell the SC package is still enabled, b/c in D, 1st gear holds longer [shifts to 2nd at higher RPM].

Now, I'm not sure if it was the fuse 11,14,16 trick that has the same effect has taking the battery cable off for 5 minutes or not. I never did the battery disconnect method. Unfortunately, I did a couple updates at once: I updated my SC via USB cable, it was the first time I've updated in about 5 months. So I applied SC Sport package with the updated software and did the fuse 11,14,16 trick all at the same time.

I also did the ESPOFFmode (the under/behind the shifter one, with a switch in the middle compartment - it's way easier and more convenient), so I was driving around with my ESP/BAS light on, burning rubber.

But, I didn't have any idle surges, yet. It's a good sign. It was driving my wife crazy, she kept looking back to see if someone rear ended her. I didn't like it either. I'll post again in a week or so and let you know if I've experienced it again.

Good luck. From my experience, it seems to return.

If you do the battery disconnect, remember to do the MDS learm procedure. Search on LXForums for it. It will eventually learn on its own, but it may have you wondering for awhile where your MDS went. Not needed for the fuse pull.

69-Firebird. Search over at LXForums.com for it. Not difficult but I don't have it memorized. The car will eventually learn, just don't be surprised if the MDS doesn't work right away. No harm from that....

FYLINHEMI - Possibly never. Their official stance is that the HEMI's have a tendancy to idle poor that is compounded by the tune, live with it. Mine goes from 900 to 400 RPM randomly, program the stock tune smooth as glass (within 25 RPM's anyways). I don't understand why they are anywhere near the idle tables, but what do I know. Just look at how many people view this thread and have the problem......

Just had the surges again on the 91 tune... At stops, with the AC on, they are very noticable. So I keep my foot on the brake a little more ;-)
I had the tune on for about a month, and this was the first big use of the AC.

I reapplied the tune (with paddle hold this time) and the surges are gone. I suspect that the adaptive stuff is causing this, combining the AC playing with idle, it IS an issue.

If it happens again, I'm pulling fuse 11 to see if that resets the idle behavior.

Issue2:
With my updated PCM, paddle hold doesn't work anymore :(
