I have the cortex 3950. It was working perfect until i installed a Full functional ram air hood from <Web://www.ramairhood.com/store/Scripts/prodView.asp?idproduct=146> . Now at about 3500-4500 rpm I'm getting a rattling sound from the engine. i have verified everything with the hood and intake are secured and bolted tight in place. Now im wondering if there might be a fuel/air ratio tweak i need to get done or what. I have been trying to track this noise down for about 3 weeks and coming up short.

Have you tried stock tune with the hhod and still get the rattle? If its just making the rattle noise with superchips tuning, it will be a severe engine knock due to major increase air to fuel ratio(which is makes it an awesome hood), and you will need a diablo that does has the ability to do custom tuning so you can remove the knock

Welcome to Superchip's forum!!

Which tune do you run, and what grade of fuel do you use? Any other mods?

Are you hearing the rattle under light to mid throttle?

With these trucks, anytime you remove the stock intake the truck will rattle in that range. Almost sounds like a bunch of marbles. This is most likely the EGR rattle you're hearing and it's muffled by the stock intake.

Just to make sure, using the tuner, you can verify if you're seeing any knock in that range.

i pulled the battery and ground the positive to reset it. then reset the throttle inside the truck and it seems to have almost eliminated the "marble rattling" sound. im currently using the 87 tune .. i was using the 91/92 tune before that. I'm about 30 miles into the computer reset/throttle reset and it seems to have helped. i rarely hear it nor just hear it at about 3.5 --> 4k rpm before WOT. So it seemed to help alot resetting the computer.

Thanks Keysguy. I sprayed some sound dampaning on the out side of the intake filter houseing and on the inside of the hood its self and ... now its slightly noticeable so just alittle more tweaking mechanicaly and it should be back to normal sound level. Thanks for the tip about the EGR. i was scared it was something way worse.
