I'm unable to data log with my 3865 on my 01 Dodge Dakota. When I try, it says Non-Compatible Vehicle J1850 or CAN not found. I'm able to get it to work after I load a new tune. It's a real pain to have to do that to get it to work and then it seems to not want to respond sometimes. I have not really tried this feature much but I think when I tried it before it at least it tried to do something but I didn't really know what I was doing. I remember trying the timed run feature a while back and that never seemed to work right for me either. May all just be operator error since there are no instructions that I have seen for these extra features. I just updated to see if that would help and it didn't.

Thanks
Craig

Welcome to Superchip's forum!

The older trucks with the J1850 computers, do not communicate with our software very well. I am surprised that it communicated with the vehicle for DAQ at all.

Got my 1st code P0123 since having SC and it and it doesn't see that either! Wonder if it will see it after I flash it? Guess I will see.

After returning it to stock and going right to checking for codes and now it can see the code. Data logging seems to work most of the time now but likes to time out? Need to figure out my code problem before I worry about this! :x

Problem seems to be resolved, at least for now! I was getting 0123 & 1596. I think I got something wet under the hood when I cleaned the engine. Funny thing I drove the damn thing a while after doing that. The next day went out and started it and had codes! Thought I was going to have to put a new clock spring in but it just seemed like it had to be from washing the engine. Glad I didn't rush out and buy one.

Anyway I installed the 91 tune and now it won't data log again. That just seems strange that it will with the stock tune but not with the 91! Guess if I want to read any sensors I will need to return it to stock or go through the tune procedure. I think it still works even if you say no when it comes to installing the tune.
