Hey all, I am having the darnest time tuning my truck with this new cortex 3950

I used to have a 3815, returned to stock a few years ago, sold it, and bought a 3950

the tuner has the newest software is unlocked, and it attached to my vin number, I can see the specs, go in the settings menu, etc

but when I try and tune, it goes through the turn car on, collects the stock tune(takes forever much longer than my older 3815 for some reason), then it turns off, turn on ignition, then I hear this weird sound, like an old video game ending lol, then it waits a few seconds, then returns error E-4F


any ideas that is incorrect?

E-4F= Module Bootload Denied

The Vehicle responded incorrectly to Module Bootload request. The cause is similar to the Response Timeout errors previously described. This error is used to differentiate this sequence of Module Bootload from a generic failure

I would update the tuner and try it again. If the problem persists then I would check the diagnostic port on the trucks side and make sure that no pins are getting pushed back when you plug the tuner into the port.

Watch your key cycles make sure that the key is being turned into the RUN position everytime, it prompts you to turn the IGn on.

okay I have updated the unit three different times ("updating database" on the superchips software), and retried quick the tune, on three separate times

and I keep getting the same error E-4F "contact superchips"

Ive already paid for the unlock code, thinking thats the issue, it appears im out $100

It reads the VIN, its attached to my particular truck, yet it says the same error code, and in settings it states "upload failed"

I checked my port, and there are no bent pins, I even held the cortex plug in place, just in case the connection points were the issue

if this unit doesnt work, can I trade it for credit towards the older 3815 or 3865 as this newer 3950 doesnt seem to be working for my vehicle

again, I certainly don't sending it into the office, at my costs, if that will get it working

Just wanted to get back, and say how much I REALLY appreciate the help from RON, and the tech staff in UTAH

they fixed my unit, shipped it back to me at no additional cost, and now my truck it back to running great again

I TRULY appreciate the high level of customer service, as sometimes this is really lacking these days

This is my third superchips unit, and im sure Ill be back for more, once I get my new car
