I have a 2002 F150 5.4 2v and recently purchased an 1865. To start off since my truck was full of 87 gas already, I put it on the 87 performance tune. I noticed super high rpms when shifting under WOT, and very firm shifts. I just got a transmission rebuild with a higher stall torque convertor and a trans go shift kit so it may be a little harsher on me than others, but my truck was shifting at close to 5500 rpm and if I recall correctly my model truck stops making power around 4500 rpm so I delta this was useless, and the 1st-2nd pressure seemed a little to firm for my liking. I next went in to recording my 1/8th mile time, and I felt as if I had no bottom end torque. I road on that tune a few days and tried the 1/8 numerous times all yielding similar results. So I returned the truck to stock and ran the 1/8 and it was a half a second quicker on stock tune than with 87 and my bottom end torque was returned. I now have a stock with options tune, but havent had a chance to check it, but if the stock tune is quicker than the 87, it seems kind of useless. Just do the stock tune and change things yourself. I plan to try the performance tune on the next fill up, but if my torque and times are not better than my stock with options turns out to be, I will be highly upset. It's great that I have the ability to change things myself now, but that wasn't why I bought this, I bought it for simplicity. Click a tune and guy. Anyone else with a 97-03 5.4, what is your experience like, and what is the breakdown of power on each tune Ron?

I am sorry to say that the tuning would not work for your setup, due to the shift kit and stall.

You could try to adjust the shift pressure to minimum and adjust the shift points as well.

Beyond that the tuner does not have the parameters to recognize the trans changes.

Looking at the dyno graph, the truck does stop making power around the 4500mark, but the tuning is designed to extened the shift to the end users choice.

Performance =20hp and 28ftlbs of torque to the wheels
tow and 87 we not rated

So, your saying my best bet would be on the performance tune with changes made myself to back off of shift pressures a little, and lower points? And would I still be lacking on bottom end? I still havent had a chance to test the stock with options, so I am not sure how it performs either. I have noticed that I need better fuel, because i can hear it pinging.

Pinging on the 87 tune?

Is truck modified anymore than you listed?

I have an AEM intake, and I have the rear cats removed, and a single in dual out magnaflow muffler. As far as performance mods, that is it.

If you are not making anymore power over stock and the truck has detonation.
This is a off the shelf type of tuner, made for near bone stock vehicles. CAI and catback exhaust are the limits of the tuning for mods.
The tuning has been out for that motor for 10+ years, I am worried that the combo of the shift kit, stall and the mods in conjuction, are not fitting with our tuning.
To get the most out of your combo, you would do better with a custom program, that we can not offer.

Ron

Well, I figured that, but couldn't pass up the deal on this thing. I'm at empty now. I will try the perfomance tune with a few changes and see what it does.

Well, on the performance tune it was better times than on 87, but still .3 seconds slower than stock.
