I would like to know if replacing the stock airbox and baffle box (the baffle box/resonator is the piece that says HEMI) with one of the many cold air intakes (CAI) actually makes any dyno tested horsepower increases.

The stock airbox uses a large filter and K&N and other high flow elements are available. The convoluted connecting hose is a large diameter, short and does not appear restrictive. The baffle box could make a difference (it is used to reduce intake noise), but the dyno is the only way I see to know for sure.

Also, the stock airbox would seem to actually pick up cooler air that almost all of the CAIs available as the air inlet horn is low and directed toward the fresh air coming from the road in front of the open area in front of the tire.

My guess is that an aftermarket replacement air intake tube from the throttle body to the stock airbox would make the most power and be the quietest.

Does Superchips have any real information?

No, we have not tested CAI vs. stock vs. tuning, for HP and torque gains. Just the fact that the air fuel ratio has enough to support the increase in speed.

I know for a FACT that the cold air kit for the ram Hemi WILL make a difference , which is also why the Newer Rams have a more streamlined air intake tube to the engine . The best thing to remember when getting one is as long as the design gets Cooler air to the engine ( some kits pull air from inside the engine compartment and from outside not as good performance wize ) the better it will perform . Its not a huge gain but you will notice a crisper acceleration , and when towing ...
