I can tell you that I used to think I could tell a difference between when my truck was tuned with SC and when it was not, but now I am not seeing much difference.
I have a 3815 for Dodge trucks and have run it in my 05 Ram 2500 hemi for a few years. lately I learned that the same unit could be used with my wifes 05 Durango w/ 4.7L. I was excited to hear this and wanted to see how it worked. First I called Superchips Tech support to confirm that a download will set the unit up for the 4.7. I set my Ram back to stock settings and went online to download the latest updates. I chose the basic update without aquisition or mileage tune and when finished loaded in the Durango using the 87 tune.
My wife drove it for a few days and said she thinks she can tell a diffence but not real sure. I was the same way and thought it seemed the same to me, so I set the durango back to stock and went online to download the tune with mileage xs to put back in the Ram. In the mean time I read about this tune from other users and decided not to use it but to use the 87 tune again in my Ram. All done, and then drove it for a few days and it was like I had done nothing. It was downshifting to get up hills that it used to climb up with no problems, had a lack of acceleration, and just a general lack of umpf.
Over the years, I have seen considerable changes in the tuner (I bought before data logging was available) and I would have to say that after each update I have been more and more upset with the performance. After about my second update it really went down hill and I remember reading of others that felt the same way. It appears that SC focused more efforts into gimmicks such as data acquisition and lost focus on the performance side.
I feel that I now have a tuner that can tell me alot of stuff about my air/fuel ratio or other stuff that I have not or will never check, but can not provide any performance improvments other than a placebo effect of me thinking it must be doing something.
Would not buy again.

With the 87 tune you will not see much of a gain in performance, you want to see a gain I would try it with 91 or better octane on the Perf level.
87 octane= 7hp and 8ftlbs of torque
91 perf tune=18hp and 20ftlbs of torque at the wheels.

I'm not as concerned about hp and tq increases but I want the improved shifts, and the better acceleration it used to give me.

You may want to try removing the power wire mod, because if you are spark knocking their is something going on.

Issue Tracking: ID = 79096
I have created a issue writeup to have the calibrators to take a look at the tuning.

How long have you had the product?
How long ago did the pinging start?

Ron, why did you not open a ticket on mine and look at the tuning? When installed with 87 tune it has no trans or shift improvements. Could this not be a tuner issue?

Where do you live?
What grade of fuel is it?
Where in the throttle band is the pinging happening?
Light throttle? Mid to high? What rpm?
Does the CAI draw air from under the hood?
Ron

Thor we are working on a mass update to help the 4.7L owners that do not have any trans improvements, no all of the 4.7L react like this.
