In the getting started guide, there are 2 tunes mentioned that seem similar. One is "87 Octane" (page 9) and the other is "87 Performance" (page 14). The 87 Octane seems to be created for a vehicle requiring 91 octane to allow it to run (lower) 87 octane. The 87 Performance seems to be for running 87 octane in a vehicle that can already run 87 but providing better performance. Is this the case in a 3875? The guide seems a little out of date compared to what I see on the 3875 that I updated on 18 Sep 2010.

Could there be a place where we could download up to the minute (* (as opposed to pestering Ron) that could be tied to the Flashpaq being connected to the computer doing the download (read serial number and version) and linked to the validated username? Just a thought...

87 perf is the name of the tune and 87 octane is the fuel grade to use. If you are refering to the manual then it is just a wording difference. Their is only one 87 tune in the tuner.

Their is a spot in the update to see the file versions.

No need to continue to update the tuner. We do not change the driveability of the vehicle, very often. When we do we will usually email the effected customers to inform them.

why does the manual show both an "87 Octane" tune under the economy section and a "87 Performance" tune under the Jeep power levels?
since there isnt actually a 87 Perfomance tune, for my JK, is there an advatage to running the 87 Octane tune? Since it isnt a performance tune and according to the manual you shouldnt tow with this tune, why not leave the factory tune in tact?

I can not say why the maual does not match the wording for the tuner.

1. 87 performance = Meaning no towing, better drivability and a little more power over stock on regular fuel. 8-10hp gains
2. MXS (mileage XS) Also a 87 tune, not so much performance, possible mileage improvments
3. tow (91 or better octane) towing up to the limits of the Jeeps rating from factory. = Adding better drivability, improved towing
4. Performance (91 or better octane) The most power that the tuning makes, no towing due to the increased ignition timing.

You still have the factory tuning in the tuner to tow on the 87 fuel.
