So I've been tweaking my shift schedule with the advanced transmission tune for over a year. Like most JK owners, I'm trying to keep the trans out of OD until 45 or 50 mph. I've been somewhat frusterated because I've had the 0% tp set as high as 58 mph on the 3 shift up and still get OD at 40 mph. I've concluded that when that happens the transmission must be using a different shift schedule, so I have also modified the low temp & OD schedules (which are tied together) but to no avail (my 0% low temp shift point is at 45 mph). There are other shift schedules that the transmission uses depending on the temp of the trans fluid that are not editable.

With the last schedule I tried, I had the 0% tp set at 58 mph for 3rd shift up. It did manage to keep the trans out of OD, but around 40 mph the torque converter locks up and if you give is a little gas, it unlocks. Not sure how the transmission decides to lock and unlock the torque converter, but I'm going to have to make some changes.

I've checked out other shift schedules for the Hemi's, put together my own spreadsheet but I still feel like I'm missing something. I'm pretty sure I know how this is suppose to work, but the trans still doesn't always shift like I expect it. I've installed a trans temp gage to try and determine which shift schedule the trans is using and intalled a trans cooler to help keep it out of the hot schedule and still I get a locked up 4th at 41pmh. what gives? Sometimes it shifts like I have it programmed, but at least 50% of the time it doesn't.

A couple questions for the SuperChips guys:
-Can the window for the mph range on the low & OD off schedules be matched closer to the normal schedule? I wanted to set my low & OD off schedule the same as the normal to see if that was why I was getting unexpected shifts but couldn't because 3 up maxes out at 47.77 mph, I was hoping to start at that speed.
-Can the temps for determining the shift schedule be modified? I know you can now also get the trans temp on the programmer by request, that would be real helpful in determining what shift schedule you are running....or maybe just have the programmer be able to tell you what shift schedule you are in so you aren't trying to program your way out of a problem you can't fix since you can't modify that shift schedule.
-How about torque converter lock up control or be able to change the parameters that control it?

The idea of the advanced transmission tune is great, but it's just like you gave us a bag of bolts and tell us you can make whatever you want out of it. While that is true, it's not helpful to achieve our end result. I'd say 90% of the JK owners just want to keep it out of OD until a higher speed or all together. Surely someone at Superchips can help us with that.

To tune out torque converter lock and unlock can be done; to some degree by using the advanced Trans options. However, it is not the best way to achieve the end result. By trying to raise the shift point it may delay the TCC from locking {at times}. This is a by product of the “shift schedule” logic. The ECU is monitoring the present gear and will lock the converter when the proper gear is reached.

There are other parameters that control the TCC lock and unlock functions that are not a part of the Trans options package. The TCC has a dedicated table section that can be adjusted for a higher TCC lock up. This is the best way to raise {or lower} torque converter settings; not by raising the shift points.
