I just got my Flashpaq tuner last week and was playing around with some of the tunes. I first installed the 87 octane tune and noticed better response and shifting, although there seems to be some transmission shudder shifting from 2-3. My real issue is the performance tune. I filled my tank with Shell premium V-power and downloded the performance tune. Under even moderate acceleration there is serious engine knock. Is there something that would be causing this other than the tune. Going back to the 87 tune, there is no knock even when I floor it. Please help!
Thanks,
Ryan

Welcome to Superchip's forum!!!
What grade of V-power did we run?
What mods does the truck have?

it is stock except for a k & N filter (just the filter not a kit). I filled it with 93 v-power and it was just about empty when I filled it.
Thanks,

How long has the filter been in the truck? If it has been washed before, I would recommend to clean the MAF meter. This is the sensor between the air box and the throttle body.
They make MAF cleaner, like the old carb cleaner.

I replaced the stock air filter the same day I tuned, they were purchased together. I will look a the MAF. Would I be better to go back to the stock filter?
thanks,
ryan

Where do you live?
Stock wheels and tires?
If you can lets try it with the stock filter with the Perf program.
What is the tuners serial number?

I live in southwestern Indiana, the weather is hot and humid right now. I have sotck wheels and tires. it's the FlashPaq 2865, the number below the barcode is 1507284 and below that the manufacturer's code is 10152RR. I did not do the internet update (because I was in a hurry) before I tried the performance tune. I will try the following in order this weekend and report back:
1. clean the MAF 2. Replace Stock Air Filter 3. update the FlashPaq
For what it's worth, the burb has 56,000 miles on it. It runs great except for a slightly rough idle at times. I am going to have the mechanic check the EGR next week when I am having some routine maintenance done.
Thanks,
Ryan

Well this past weekend I was able to play around and make some progress with the knocking issue. I started by cleaning the MAF (as suggested) and that definitely reduced some fo the knocking, but it was still there with heavy acceleration. Next, I put the stock air filter back in and drove it again. This time the knocking was gone. While playing with the options, I noticed that the tires were one size bigger than what came from the factory. I took a measurement from the ground to the highest tanget point on top of the tire and came up with 31.375". I rounded up to 31.5" and retuned. I think it made a small but noticable difference in the shifting. By the way, is that the correct way to determine tire size?? Under very light acceleration, I still feel a lttle transmission shudder from 2nd to 3rd gear. Is that normal? Is there anything I can fine tune to get rid of that?
Thanks for your help.
Ryan

For the trans "shutter" try to lower shift pressure a few notches. If it is in the trans this should lower the pressure.
