Can anyone share with me, (in newbee terms), what shift points and pressures they have had sucess with in the advanced tuning area of the 2865 Flashpaq?

I recieved these values from Ron at Superchips, but I do not fully understand.

-------------------------------------------
WOT Shift (selectable) 1-2 N 500rpm/5mph in 50rpm/.5mph increments (SC value is the middle of the scale)

WOT Shift 2-3 N 500rpm/7.5mph in 50rpm/.75mph

WOT Shift 3-4 N 500rpm/10mph in 50rpm/1mph
-------------------------------------------

1). CAI is for Cold Air Intake - If I go with a cold air intake the Superchips mod will not work correctly? Why not and how to go around this. Best Cold Air Intake?

2). WOT is for Wide Open Throttle. Yes? Is WOT just a point of reference for these values? I certainly will not be running my car at wide open throttle. Will I feel the difference at all throttle positions?

3). Why is shift points 1-2 considered "selectable" as opposed to 2-3 and 4-5

4). (Please interperet this line for me) "1-2 N 500rpm/5mph in 50rpm/.5mph increments".
When shifting from first to second, (I dont know what the N means, and not sure how the rest of the values relate to setting the shift points)

I have not gone very far into the 2865's advanced tuning interface, so I am not sure if I will understand how to increase the values in increments, without harming my corvette.

So far, all I have done is accept the Quick Tune. I would like to make my car's shift points between second and third, and third and fourth shift at higher rpm's and hit a little harder.

First and second seem OK at the Quick Tune settings.

1. Cai (cold air intakes) will not work with the tuning, just drop in style filters. If you have to have a CAI then you would have to purchase a different brand of tuner or tuning. You can wieght the benifit of the CAI versus the tuning.

2. Changing the shift points are based on throttle position, WOT (wide open throttle)= 1/2 throttle or more.
Part throttle shift points (less than 1/2 throttle) will not change from factory settings.
Basically, when you are putting around, the shift pattern will be closer to stock. Then when you need to run it, the maximum shift points will be seen over stock.
This is correct when it comes to shift pressures. The deeper into the throttle the more aggressive the shift.

3. Meaning you can adjust. 1-2, 2-3, 3-4 shifts (when I copied this I did not edit this to well)

4. N= nothing (EDIT)
1 to 2 shifts, can add up to +5mph and up to 500rpm total adjustment over the stock shift point prior to the gear change at (1/2 throttle or more)WOT. This is incremented in .5 (or 1/2 mile) and 50 rpm increments of adjustment. Basically each change above stock will be a 1/2MPH increments up to a total of 5MPH and 500rpms at the end of the scale.

SC value (superchip)= the middle of the scale on the shift points and firmness. (I.E Superchips Quick tune) for reference. This means that you have adjsutment over and under the SC settings in the advanced tune.

We do not give you enough chain to choke yourself with these tuning options. The parameters that we give will not hurt a vehicle.

I always recommend to get used to the quick tune for the shift patterns, then this will give you a change to maximize or lower each level.

Have Fun!!

Ron

Thanks Ron..... Very informative
Now I feel comfortable with setting the shift points and pressures.
Good to know that your programmer will not allow me to input damaging values.

While I have your attention, I have upgraded my tuner with the latest Superchips flash upgrade.
I noticed there is a datalogging area.
To use this feature:
Do I leave the programmer connected to the OBD connector?
If so do I menu to the datalogging area on the programmer, mount it somewhere in the vehicle securely so I can read the output on the LCD?
What kind of information will it log, and is it only read directly from the LCD panel, or
can the data log file be transferred through the USB connector to a PC for record keeping.

Just trying to understand how this feature would be used............

The product has the ability to be plugged into the vehicle under the advanced functions area of the tuner under DAQ.

There are 2 DAQ programs in the tuner.
In no apparent order;

1 is log by speed and log by distance
2 is PID (parameter ID) monitors (IE sensors) to monitor.

This can be uploaded from the tuner to a PC, (Which is labor intensive) or viewed fom the tuner itself.

I will email you a instruction booklet to review.
