2009 f 150 5.4 running 35's
ive ran the heavy tow tune the performance tune and the 87 tune. so far i like the the perf tune the best the truck feels like its has a little more "GO" but since gas has been climbing ive switched over to 87 tune. Now my question stems from reading on various forums of people saying run the heavy tow tune if i haven't re-geared for the larger tires, but here on the SC forum Ron told a guy with a '10 5.4 that the 87 has better numbers. Which tune do you suggest for everyday use and does the 87 tune have better numbers for the 09 also and if it does how come the truck feels more powerful with the perf tune on? Ran about 5000 miles with the perf tune and about 500 so far with the 87 tune.

91 perf=37hp and 50ftlbs @3500rpms 91 tow=32hp and 41ftlbs @4100 87=38hp and 57 ftlbs of torque at the wheels @3500rpms
I recommend the 87 tune due to fuel prices vs output from just the tuning.
It is a opinion of mine, but you will use what feels better for you.

You can tow up to 6000lbs on the 87 tune, anything higher will require you to use the heavy tow tune, with 91 or better octane.

Ran about 5000 miles with the perf tune and about 500 so far with the 87 tune. If you don't mind answering, what kind of mileage (highway and/or street) do you get with the 35" tires? I have a 2009 F150 Lariat 5.4L 4x4 and before lifting 6" (BDS), installing Toyo MTs 35" and using the 87 Octane tune, I was getting about 20 miles/gal on highway. Now I get about 15 and don't know if it is the tune or all about the modification. At this time my Cortex 1950 gives an error (E-5E) when attempting to install Stock w/Options (35" tires) and I have not been able to isolate what caused the 5 miles/gal drop.
