Hey everyone, I first would like to say thank you Ron for activating my account. Also, I am quite happy and proud to now be part of the Superchip community.


I have a superchip 1715 for my 97 F150 5.4. Everywhere I read that it is possible to choose between a 87 octane and 91 octane performance for the truck. I can't seem to find it. The only thing that my SUPERCHIP is asking me is if I want to " Use Superchips Tuning? YES/NO " If I say yes, then it goes right into installing the tuning, no questions asked. If I say no, then it asks me "Edit Custom Opts? YES or NO" If I say no, then I go back to Main Menu. If I say yes, then it asks me if my transmission is Manual or Automatic, and then goes straight into adjusting shift timing and pressure. No where does it ask me if I want to change octane level performances. This bothers me a lot because not only do I want to have a 91 octane performance, I also do not know if "Superchips Tuning" is 87, or 91 octane.


But other than that, old or not, the Superchip totally woke my truck up. I just gotta be careful, so I don't break anything cuz oh my god.

On the older trucks and 1715 tuners we only had a Superchips tune, which is a 91 or better octane program.

With the 87 tuning we made very little extra power.

Oh well in that case thank you very much. I put in 91 octane so I guess I am doing things right.

EDIT: I also have a question. Is it true that the more I drive, the better the tuning gets?

No so much.

Within the first 50-100 miles the truck learns your driving habits. (how hard and quick you apply the gas) and how you brake and allow the truck to shift.

It will relearn, and be set. Untill someone else drives the truck for week or so, and it will adjust to their driving habits.
