hi ron got a interesting question for you. i have been running 93 since i owned the truck even before i tuned it. however due to the difference in octane prices, i got wondering a few days ago about what would 89 do, its only 2 difference, so i got some and tired, made sure it was pure 93 not a mix of left over 93 and 89 mixed, what i found was quite interesting, i didnt see a drop in performance actually it seemed to be better take off, not only that i got a little better mpg on top of it. this has happened with more then one tank of 89 and mixed driving. can you think of any reason this might be? also will it hurt anything to run it on 89 in the 91 performance tune. i cant change it due to the fact i unlocked it leaving the tuner open and the truck tuned to the 91 perf. i made sure i liked how it ran before i did this, i thought about this long and hard also. but the was other people wanting to see how the tuner worked or if they liked it and some of them thanks to be letting them try mine has went and brought one.

cant change the 91 perf mode, and i was wondering if running 89 would hurt anything, i dont not here any knocking nor any lag once so ever. im running no cats true dual high flow exhaust, e fans, k&n cai (with tune) and of course the 1865. 2007 f150 4.6 2v.

if you could give me you option of this? thanks

Doing this with it being cooler out, may be fine now. But when it gets hot again, this may not fly.

Using a lower octane than what is recommended, will cause the knock sensor to pull timing when it sences detonation.

i did this before a while back and actually heard a little knocking/clicking, just to see what would happened, so i went back with 93, it used to only be 20 cents more a gallon the 87, but now wow, i was at a 7-11 last night that has the five grades 87 88 89 91 93 the 91 was 7 cents higher then the 89 im not dare going to say the 93 price.

this is what im think about of course i know your not going to recommended it, but i was thinking of getting 89 and adding octane booster this stuff is home made and i will have to mix it myself, i used it before in another truck and nothing every happened, i was mainly talking about mixing in achol but it states not to go over a 20% ratio. but im not sure if i will save anything in the end. this was my other ideal, was every other time i get gas, alternate between 89 and 93 that making sure theres more 93 and that should gave me a 91-92 mix and maybe save me a little money. i forgot its a little colder here in fl, wonder if it gets any colder if i could run 87 lol not going that low.

oh just to let you know and others that last time i checked the mpg in the city was 17 and hwy was 20-22 not one point i did get 20 city. course i driving a way to make sure i got 20.

thanks ron
