I have installed both the 87 Tune and the Mileage XS Tune and get Knocking when the engine is under load (First 1,000 rpms of 2nd gear and up, and WOT).
I was hoping you could help Ron.
These forums are very helpful and thought others may learn from my experience if there is a forum on the topic.
I have called and you guys are looking at the problem but this is the third week the FORD Techs have been looking at the problem so a "just be patient" answer is fine.

So You Know:
Mileage :25K
MAF :Cleaned
No other Mods
Tires are 32.5" (little over stock)
New Air Filter
Mixed in 93 octane to get about 90 octane on 87 Tune - no change.

Not a common problem with the Fords, but the calibrators have this one. This may take a week or so.

Sorry Ron but it's been 2 more weeks so I would like to ask if there has been any progress?

Ok two more weeks and no response isthis normal customer service if so I don't need this product.
I tried a full tank of 93 octane and that seemed to fix the problem with the 87 tune but that negates the mileage savings which are quite minuscule any way.

What does SuperChips do for customers who have this sort of problem (besides ignoring it)?
Please let me know what I should do.
Which of your competitors would you suggest I try?
This is the third tuner I have owned from SuperChips.

Does superChips have the ability to have a "Stock with Options" tune so I can change the tranny tune since tuning my F150 has been proven to be difficult.

Hey Ron,

I'm having the exact same issue with my 2009 F150 FX4 running 87 Octane tune. I have an AFE CAI, and I've tried both the 87 Octane Tune and 87 Octane CAI tune that I purchased separately - both have the exact same issue as the original poster in the thread. (pretty significant pinging/knocking with lower rpms under load). I started noticing this issue after the dealer installed the latest flash from Ford. I've done all of the updates from Superchips, but the issue persists. Is there any update to this issue?

Hello Ron,
Any news yet?

I had my truck in to the dealer for a warranty related problem and explained the problem to the service manager there and he has heard of this problem from two other people in my area, he seems to know what you guys have not figured out yet but I could not get a definitive answer or even direction from him, he was holding out and kind of chuckled.
He said it would not void the warranty unless maybe it burned up the valves.
But at this rate my warranty will be over before my Chip is "Supered".

Thats just for your information I don't know the tech behind it but look for good customer service when it comes to things like this.

Can you suggest what I may do next?
Is there a higher level?
Again should I try a competitors product?

I also have a 2010 f150 5.4l I purchased the cotex 1950 and what a knock at low RPM Ron I was wondering if the calibrators have figured the problem Yet. I refuse to put it back in till the issue is resolved.. Hope this problem can be repaired... I currently am running the stock setting.

Yes I have a cold air intakeK&N and a 3" single exhaust system Cat Back system. I have only tryied the 87 quick tune option. i run 87 octane fuel. when the stock program is in the truck there is no knocking of any kind. My neighbour has a super chip cortex in his 2008 hemi and has no issues. He can not beleive how bad it knocks at low RPMs in my
ford. I do all recent updates in the programer and put it in and still the same issue so i put the stock setting back in. I purchased the truck new in November 2010 and I currently have 62000Km on it ...... By the way thanks for the quick response.
