Elsewhere on the internet I am seeing two sets of HP numbers for the LBZ 2805 Flashpaq tunes. The original numbers are 65/85/119 HP for the 3 tunes. Now with the Data Logging update I am seeing 45/61/83 HP for the three tunes. Both sets of numbers are shown in what is presented as Superchips originated information. Please help me with the facts. What are the real rear wheels numbers Superchips is stating and has there been a change with the release of Data Logging? And if the HP of the three tunes has changed what lead to this decision? Thanks.

Pete

Pete,

Thanks for bringing this up. The 65/85/119 are for the 2006 LLY and the 45/61/83 are for the 2006-2007 LBZ. Our Superchips web page was incorrect at one time and had both vehicles pointing to the LLY dyno graphs, this may have caused some confusion.

Enjoy your flashpaq!

Craig

WHY IN THE WORLD DOES THE 06-LBZ HAVE LESS HP IN THE PROGRAM THAN THE OLDER VERSION LLY?

Craig, thanks for the quick response. The dyno does not lie, but it sure feels like more power added to the LBZ than the numbers. Could be my wishful thinking. I thought the original higher numbers were low. But what do I know? Just a happy Flashpaq owner. Running Tow/Haul now waiting for my slow learning Allison to adjust.

I will take a stabb at the question about the LLY/LBZ difference as it sounds right to me. There are many who believe the only difference between the 06 LLY and 06 LBZ is the software. The base engines are the same and no one that I know of can identify a different part on the engine except the ECM. If this is the case, the LLY is rated at 310 HP and the LBZ is rated at 360 HP stock. That is a 50 HP detuning in the LLY. Superchips has been able to recover most of that in their tune. Probably not all of the difference since there is both modifyable and non modifyable code in the ECM. That is my theory. Now Superchips can give us the facts.

I was told that the LBZ has external injectors while the LLY is still internal.
That was the answer when I asked what Chevy did differently to gain the extra hp on the LBZ. Anyone know anything about that?

LB7's internal injectors. LLY's are all external.

OK, to round out these HP and Tq. figures, what are the Superchips torque ratings for my 2006 GMC LBZ Duramax.

Based on a previous post the HP ratings are 45/61/83.

After driving my second Duramax 15,000 miles I have completely changed my thoughts on tuners. I tow between 4000-12000lbs most of the time. The hp torque increases seem low for the lbz but trust me. The Superchip tuner is a great way to go if you want to bump things up a bit. In tow-haul mode the 45hp incraese is plenty. The shifts are solid and although not huge your mpg will be better than stock. Around town I run the middle setting(my in town trailer weighs around 5000lbs.) The fuel economy is noticably better and without a trailer on the back the numbers really improve. Once in awhile I have installed the performance mode and I feel like without tranny upgrades your probably on shacky ground. Back to stock for dealer visits are easy. If you really want a play there are products out there but for a good reliable and safe truck mod I beleive Superchip's is a good way to go. Tech support has been called a couple times and you get a great 1 to 1 feeling. like anything, it takes time to figure things out but after several months of working with Superchips tuning in my slightly modified truck I can say I am a happy. satisfied Superchip customer. Also in indentifing and clearing codes (I run a 4" free flow cat back exhaust and a Airaid cold air intake)the hand held programmer is great.

Thanks guys,

Like mentioned above the only difference between a 2006 LLY and a 2006/2007 LBZ is the tuning in the ECM which is 50hp. You could take your 2006 LLY to the dealership and have them tune it as a LBZ for the 50hp difference. Long story short with the HP/torque difference between the two stock your going to see a bigger jump in HP/TQ on a LLY over a LBZ but if a LLY is tuned and putting out 410 HP a tuner and the same tune is loaded on a LBZ the LBZ will also put out the same 410 HP.
