Hey Ron why is it that you can respond to other peoples concerns, but you choose to ignore mine. The problem of the engine noise is still going on at shifts (1-2 and 3-4). All I've gotten from you is tough titty! I'm not making this stuff up, several other peopole have had the same complaint I've/ we've paid good money for a "top notch" tech support but all I get is some people who run from problems. I need help with this issue. If your not going to get results for your customers, buy back your programmer $400 bucks and I'm gone. I can only hope this $400 programmer doesn't cost me a motor. Any body else having these problems send a reply so they know we are serious. Hope you won't continue to ignore me. Waiting still.......

Wait a minute. Don't forget about me. I also have this "noise" of which you speak. I don't really notice it just at shift, it's all the time when programmed with the tune. The "Rattle" is incredibly loud. Quiets down under load. Sound like an old damn Ford. Bought a Duramax because they're quiet.
Ron, Let me know too, what's up please!

I have a 2007 clasic lbz, have used preformance mode for a while, switched to stock with changes for my wife to pull my horse trailer, went back to preformance mode and the rattle started.- You are right, it sounds like a ford, or more like a 6.5 chevy! I'm switching back to see if it goes away.

A performance retailer friend of mine in South Carolina has clued me in on something. The rattle may not be due to the programmer but as a result of ultra low sulfur deisel fuel (thanks to the tree huggers). I went out today and bought some sulfur additive to raise the sulfur level in the fuel but have only run it for 25 miles thus far but it seems to be doing markedly better. He says the vehicles prior to late 07 and 08 are designed for the low sulfur fuel all previous were designed to run the regular sulfur. The richer sulfur fuel helps to lubricate the fuel pump and injectors thus keeping them quiet. He says that over time it could mess up your motor. Another thank you to all the oil moguls and towel heads out there who dreamt this up. I will drive mine quite a bit for business and personal in the next day or so and if there are any positives or negatives I'll pass it along ASAP or call Ron to post on the forum. You can get this stuff at any Auto Zone, NAPA or any other auto parts place and the beauty is it is only $3.88 if it works.

mullisconcrete,
That's a fine thought and all. I do think there is something to it however, when programming back to stock the Duramax is as quiet as engineered by GM, on the same fuel. The SC tune brings out this "rattle", period!!
The question everyone want's to know is: Does it damage the engine? A question that still has not been answered by Superchips. No question the tune makes great power and I am very happy with it, in that respect however, a little extra power is not worth trashing a $45K vehicle.

We at Superchips, Inc. would like to respond to this post and to all concerned.
After extensive testing regarding the GM Duramax files having excessive injector noise at wide open throttle shift points, our Research and Development Team has assured us that these files, while sometimes considered noisy, are safe. Even though our R&D Team assured us of the safety in using these files, due to the field complaints we received about the excessive injector noise, we have temporarily reverted back to earlier performance files.
We are currently working to resolve this noise issue and will provide updated tuning files delivering the power and performance you expect from Superchips without the excessive injector noise. A Flashpaq/Cortex internet update should be available in a few days.
If you would like to become a beta tester of the new Duramax performance software, please contact Superchips Customer Care at 800-585-7019. We have a few test spots available.
Please understand that solving this issue is a priority at Superchips, Inc.
