Anyone have an idea why the 6000lb tow limit on tow/perf mode? What will happen if I tow more than that? Fry the trainy?
I heard from diesel place I should have an EGT guage, which I could do, but realistically what am I gonna do if the temps run high? Pull over and change my program?
Any thoughts / facts anyone has would be great.

wow! if you're gonna drive and tow with a $40,000+ vehicle you should find out something about it! a pyrometer is something you should have installed before a tuner especially if you're going to tow with it! if you see your egt's are too high you can ease off the throttle for one and you will know that maybe you should'nt tow on that level anymore! if you're going to tow on a higher than stock level you should install some airflow improvements (intake, exhaust, etc.). or you can continue what you're doing now and and put some lucky diesel tech's child through college!

Ok do you reccomend a particular guage? What level should I be running at, and do I have any trainy concerns.

cool! those are the questions tou should be asking. if you're concerned about damage you should never tow above the tow setting and even on the tow setting you could still get some tranny slipping and high egt's. companies like auto meter and banks make gauge packages for diesels that include pyro, boost, and trans temp gauge. i would highly recommend all three especially if your towing- even more so because you're running a tuner. don't forget you can also lower your egt's by installing an intake (i run an aem system) and a 4" or 5" exhaust (there are lots of good quality similar systems out there- but i would recommend going with stainless over aluminized to stay away from rust issues).
