Superchips is the proud sponsor of #816 Cody Rahders in the Local Oil Off Road Racing Series SR1 UTV class. “Code”, age 16, started his UTV racing career at the age of 13. Definitely not new to racing, his racing career really started at the age of 4 riding BMX. It was a straight shot to motocross in 1999 just one year later. After a few big injuries including a broken femur and life flight Cody and his family decided to take a break from racing and focused on baseball.
It didn’t take long for Cody to have the itch to race again. He broke it to his family that baseball just wasn’t cutting it. After checking out the local racing scene, Cody really wanted to race something off-road that’s when he took an interest in the Super Stock UTV class. Cody’s first UTV a bone stock Yamaha Rhino and entered the Elsinore GP. Cody and his Dad quickly built the Rhino into a Super Stock UTV and entered every race they could find like Elsinore GP, M4SX, Soboba GP, Podium Productions, and the DND tour.
2009 turned out to be Cody’s year. His first race in new his modified Rhino was a Monster Jam race. Once the season for M4SX started, Cody’s racing ability really shined. He nailed 1st place for 6 rounds of M4SX modified amateur class. Knowing he had the Championship title clenched he wanted to race the last round as a pro driver so he moved up to the next class coming in on the podium again in 2nd place.
It was quite a dilemma deciding where to race next and in what, when Weller racing came to the rescue with their SR1 option so Cody could continue to stay and be competitive in the UTV class. Cody’s new SR1 was not ready in time to make round 1 and 2 of the Lucas Oil Off Road Series. With no seat time at all to get used to his 1000 cc engine he was out on the track learning his car. It didn’t take long and by round 5 he was back on the podium with a 2nd place.
